MLK

By chance, or by my own failing, this isn't something I'd seen before. Robert Kennedy, forty years ago today.

Wow, Curtis. I hadn't seen this before either. A defining moment. Thanks for sharing.

Hope all is going well with the new job!

The Robert Kennedy speech was quite moving, particularly for those of us who watched it live. It was a most significant moment in history because RFK was willing to put aside the philosophy of revenge and to reach out to others with love and understanding. As he spoke others in our country were seeking to destroy out of anger and frustration. I often have wondered what kind of president RFK would have made. I like to think he always would have sought peaceful means to solve our problems and conflicts with others.

We are fortunate to have the tapes and recordings of events such as this one. In an age of media, they are powerful tools to remind us of what can be.

As I write and remember, I just hope that people your age will seek alternatives to war and military might in creating a livable world. My generation can still destroy. Speak out against violence; teach us there is a better way, just as young Kennedy tried to do.
